We are delighted to announce that Ben Glasstone is the receipient of the second MTI Stiles & Drewe Mentorship Award for his musical Reanimator. Ben was announced as the winner at a wonderful gala with Mercury Musical Developments (MMD) and Stephen Sondheim Society at the Noël Coward on Sunday 11th June.

The Award sees award-winning authors George Stiles and Anthony Drewe working with Ben over the next 12 months to develop the show. He will benefit from monthly writers' labs with MMD, a week-long writing retreat at Anthony's house in France and two Progress Labs where he will present sections of the show in front of an industry panel and his writing peers. The year culminates with a showcase presentation at The Other Palace in 2018. Music Theatre International (Europe) is proud to sponsor this valuable Award which develops musical theatre writing in the UK.

Ben Glasstone is only the second winner of the Mentorship Award. Over the last 12 months Stiles & Drewe have worked with the inaugural recipients, Rhys Jennings and Darren Clark, working on their show, The Wicker Husband. The year culminated with a professional industry showcase of the musical at The Other Palace in April 2017. They now have serious interest from leading producers.

Sean Gray, Managing Director of MTI Europe commented: “On the evidence of George and Anthony’s mentorship of Darren and Rhys and their nurturing of The Wicker Husband through two readings and a classy showcase performance at The Other Palace, they are natural mentors with (not surprisingly) excellent judgement.  MTI Europe is really happy to be sponsoring their Award and believe it will be an invaluable new contributor to the discovery and development of the best new writing and writers in musical theatre.”
