Alan Zachary co-wrote music and lyrics for the Broadway musical First Date, which played at the Longacre Theatre in New York and has since been translated into more than a dozen languages and has had over 200 productions around the world. Recently, Alan co-wrote the first original song for the new Disney+ High School Musical series as well as the songs for the critically acclaimed musical episode of ABC's fantasy TV series Once Upon a Time. Alan also co-wrote music and lyrics for the stage musical adaptation of the film Secondhand Lions (book: Rupert Holmes/producer: Warner Bros. Theatre Ventures) which premiered at the 5th Avenue Theatre in Seattle. In the world of theme parks, Alan co-wrote the songs for Celestina Warbeck & the Banshees, the hottest musical act in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, based on the singing sorceress created by J.K. Rowling - as well as book, music & lyrics for Disney Cruise Line's long-running original stage musical Twice Charmed: an original twist on the Cinderella story. In film/TV/streaming, Alan has developed series for ABC, Amazon, The CW, Disney Channel and FOX, and has written songs for Disney Animation. Upcoming projects: stage musical adaptations of the hit Zac Efron film 17 Again (director: Adam Shankman/Producer: Warner Bros. Theatre Ventures) and 13 Going on 30 (director: Andy Fickman), along with songs for an animated musical feature for DreamWorks Animation.
