An anachronistic adaptation of the classic Marivaux comedy of the same name, Triumph Of Love is full of delicious deception, gender confusions and all the complexities of l'amour, revealing the beauty, absurdities and bittersweet nature of love.
Along with their hilarious "henchmen," Princess Leonide and the handsome Agis become lost on the messy path to love. One of them loves the other. The other is planning to kill her, but unknowingly falls in love with her when she claims to be an on-the-run bride. This after Agis discovers she is not a male student, as her original disguise suggested -- a disguise that served convincing enough for another woman to fall in with her. All this fun and we've not yet made it to intermission! The riotous romp only gains momentum as multiple stories of swift infatuation come to a head for our cast of characters.
This charming, chamber musical is a perfect showcase for actors with toned comedic chops. Thanks to the minimal set and costume demands, Triumph Of Love fits flawlessly into any space or on any budget. Audiences everywhere will be engrossed with the sexy repartee, comical buffoonery, and unexpected tenderheartedness.
