Joel Hirschhorn
Joel Hirschhorn is two-time Tony nominee for Best Score, as well as author of the libretto for Copperfield. Joel's Tony-nominated show, Seven Brides For Seven Brothers, a big hit on London's West End, has received over 2,000 productions. This makes it one of the Top Ten most performed musicals in the history of Musical Theatre International. In addition to his Tony nominations, Joel has also won two Academy Awards and was a nominee for two others. He has received four Golden Globes and a Dramalogue Award for Best Musical. His lyrics were performed by Liza Minelli and Charles Aznavour on the highly successful production From A to Z, and he has written eight lyrics for Aznavour's One-Man Broadway show (including the internationally famous "Old Fashioned Way"). His songs have been recorded by such diverse entertainers as Frank Sinatra, Fred Astaire, Elvis Presley, Robert Guillaume and Michael Feinstein. A graduate of Manhattan's High School of Performing Arts, Joel is the author of four best-selling books, and is known worldwide for Notes on Broadway (Simon and Schuster), in which he interviewed and wrote profiles of Stephen Sondheim, Stephen Schwartz, Jerry Herman, Tim Rice, John Kander, Fred Ebb and Hirschhorn's mentor, Leonard Bernstein.
