Carmen The Musical

Carmen The Musical
Bizet's thrilling operatic masterpiece retold as musical theatre.

Bizet's unforgettable tunes, reimagined as musical theatre, tell the story of a dangerous, seductive Spanish heroine recklessly playing with her fate and that of her lovers on the teeming streets of Seville in 1820. An easily accessible invigoratingly audacious look at perhaps the most familiar, beloved and popular operas ever written.

Carmen the Musical had its first production at Westcliff On Sea by the Little Theatre Club (who commissioned it) in 1990 and it has since been staged successfully by many UK societies. Bizet's glorious music for the story of tragic factory girl Carmen and her relationships with Don Jose and Escamillo ensures that Carmen remains one of the most popular of all musical theatre works.
