How do I get permission to modify a script for performance?

The question you're answering.

I am the husband of the theatre director for Woodbridge Senior High School in Virginia. My wife and I saw Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson at the American Shakespeare Center last year and would like to perform a one-act version of this show for the Virginia Theater Association (VTA) high school one-act competition in October 2017. Since we are a high school, we would have to modify Bloody Bloody for both content AND time. We did this last year for the musical Return to the Forbidden Planet and believe that Bloody Bloody would be a great fit for our school and the VTA competition, provided we are allowed to make certain modifications. What is the process for doing this?

Send us a request in writing to your account representative detailing the changes you want to make to the script - we can then pass the request to the rightsholders/authors for permission and let you know what the answer is as soon as we receive it.
