When crime writer Jack Cameron dies unexpectedly alongside his wife Susie, they are refused entry into heaven. Instead, they return to haunt the cottage where they lived and spend their time frightening the estate agents and prospective tenants. When Susie convinces Jack to allow Simon and his pregnant wife Flic to move in they become drawn into their lives. Simon is struggling with writers block and Flic’s mother is doing all she can to separate them so Susie summons her Guardian Angel to assist causing chaos all round.
With an ensemble cast, a single set and plenty of laugh out loud moments, Spirit Level is both easy to stage and hugely entertaining for audiences. Combining farce with heartfelt moments it offers strong character roles with comic timing. It’s an ideal choice for groups seeking a comedy with wide audience appeal.
