Production Pro vs Stage Write?
What is the difference between Production Pro and Stage Write? Do people tend to use one OR the other or both?? Which is better and why? I'm starting Disney's Descendants and not sure which one is better to use for cast, stage managers, etc.
Hi! Production Pro is basically a digital copy of the script and piano/vocal score. It allows users to add notes, and teachers/directors can share notes with everyone. For example, if an ensemble is divided into groups A, B, and C during a song, a director can make note of who is in which group and share that note/blocking so it appears in everyone's script. They could also note who is singing which harmony, etc. Individuals can also make their own notes. Users can also upload videos to Production Pro. If they film a dance rehearsal, for example, they can upload it for students to watch outside of rehearsal.
Stage Write is software designed primarily for documenting blocking, scenery, and transitions. It’s mostly used by stage managers and professional companies doing longer runs, especially to train understudies or replacement casts. So if someone is understudying Mal and the stage manager has documented all of the staging in Stage Write, the understudy can follow all of Mal's blocking on each page, as an example.
Ultimately, you know what is best for your production and its needs, but we hope this gave some more insight.
