Script: Prince

KING
Don't worry, son. You'll find a girl tonight!

PRINCE
Don't count on it. I don't even like to dance.

(The PRINCE stops and looks up as CINDERELLA enters and approaches him. A hush falls over the ballroom.)

Hello ... would you like to dance?

CINDERELLA
Why thank you, Your Highness.

PRINCE
I'm afraid I'm not very good at it.

CINDERELLA
Me neither. But we can try!

KING
(to the GRAND DUKE, excited)
Did you hear that???
(calling to a conductor, offstage)
Hit it, maestro!

("So This Is Love" underscore begins and everyone dances.)

NARRATOR 4
The night went on, and the Prince and Cinderella danced and danced. Other girls tried to get his attention ...

ANASTASIA, DRIZELLA
Yoo hoo!

NARRATOR 4
... but he wouldn't dance with anyone else.

(The STEPSISTERS try to see through the crowd.)

ANASTASIA
Who is she?

DRIZELLA
Do we know her?

STEPMOTHER
Hmm. There is something familiar about her.

KING
And now, everyone, the dance we've all been waiting for ... the Midnight Minuet!

(The music changes, as all get in line for "The Midnight Minuet." The clock begins to chime, and CINDERELLA suddenly realizes what time it is.)

CINDERELLA
(gasps)
Oh my goodness!
PRINCE
What's the matter?

CINDERELLA
Goodbye.

(CINDERELLA starts to leave, but the PRINCE stops her.)

PRINCE
No, no, wait!

CINDERELLA
It's midnight! I have to go!

PRINCE
But why?

(The clock continues to chime.)

CINDERELLA
Goodbye.

(CINDERELLA runs off.)

PRINCE
No! Wait! Come back! I don't even know your name! How will I find you?

(The STEPSISTERS interrupt him.)

ANASTASIA
I'm right here, honey!

DRIZELLA
And I'm not going anywhere!

STEPMOTHER
Neither am I!!! (STEPMOTHER and the STEPSISTERS try to dance with him, to no avail.)

PRINCE
Stop the music! Stop the music! Please, everyone ... help me find that girl!

GRAND DUKE
You heard him, everyone! Let's go!!! (EVERYONE exits, chattering and looking frantically for CINDERELLA. The KING, PRINCE and GRAND DUKE stay behind.)

KING
Where could she be?

GRAND DUKE
She can't have gone far!
