SIDE 1

NARRATOR 1
Once upon a time in a faraway land, there was a tiny kingdom.

NARRATOR 2
And in this kingdom lived a beautiful young girl named Cinderella.

NARRATOR 3
Cinderella had an evil stepmother, and two evil stepsisters named Anastasia and Drizella.

NARRATOR 4
Cold, cruel and jealous, they made Cinderella a servant in her own house!

NARRATOR 1
And yet, through it all, Cinderella never stopped hoping that someday her dreams of happiness would come true.

SIDE 2

(CINDERELLA sadly puts her bucket down as her STEPMOTHER and STEPSISTERS enter, dressed to go to the ball.)

STEPMOTHER
Why Cinderella, you're not ready, child.

CINDERELLA
I'm not going.

(The STEPSISTERS peek out from behind STEPMOTHER.)

STEPMOTHER
Not going? Oh, what a shame. But of course, there will be other times and --

CINDERELLA
Yes, goodnight.

(CINDERELLA walks away as STEPMOTHER and the STEPSISTERS exit, laughing wickedly.)

NARRATOR 1
Cinderella was very sad she couldn't go to the ball. But what she didn't know was that the mice had a big surprise for her!

(The MICE reveal the beautiful handmade gown, and quickly start dressing her up.)

MICE
Surprise! Surprise! Surprise! Surprise!

CINDERELLA
I don't believe it! How can I ever thank you? It's beautiful!

NARRATOR 2
Cinderella put on her dress as fast as she could, tied her hair with a beautiful ribbon, and ran to catch the coach.

CINDERELLA
Wait! Please! Wait for me.

SIDE 3

(The PRINCE notices a discarded shoe -- CINDERELLA's glass slipper)

PRINCE
Look! She left her slipper!

KING
Aha! Don't worry, son! We'll find her!

PRINCE
But how?

(The KING draws a blank and looks up, thinking.)

GRAND DUKE
We could try that slipper on every girl in the kingdom!

KING
I've got an idea! Let's try the slipper on every girl in the kingdom!

GRAND DUKE
(rolling his eyes)
Great idea, Your Majesty.

(The KING, PRINCE and GRAND DUKE exit.)

NARRATOR 1
So all through the night, everyone searched and searched.

NARRATOR 2
But the beautiful maiden was nowhere to be found.

NARRATOR 3
So, the next morning, as the Prince and King waited in the royal coach, the Grand Duke and Herald knocked on every door, trying to find the foot that would fit the glass slipper.

NARRATOR 4
They tried and tried and tried, but had no luck at all. Finally, they arrived at Cinderella's house.
