Audition Central: Disney's Cinderella KIDS

Script: Other Mice

SIDE 1

NARRATOR 3
Not everyone in the house hated Cinderella.

(MICE scurry on and crowd around Cinderella.)

MICE
Cinderelly? Cinderelly? Cinderelly! Cinderelly!

NARRATOR 3
The mice were her best friends, and helped her as much as they could. Let's see, there was Perla, and Jaq, and Luke ... and Gus ...

(GUS remains cowering in a corner.)

CINDERELLA
Come out, Gus!
(patting GUS's paw)
Don't let them scare you.

GUS
Cinderelly go to the party!

CINDERELLA
A ball. Can you imagine? It would be a dream come true.

GUS
Dream, Cinderelly?

CINDERELLA
Why Gus, don't you know what a dream is? It's important to have a dream.

SIDE 2

(STEPMOTHER and the STEPSISTERS enter again as the MICE scurry and hide.)

STEPMOTHER
Girls, don't forget to give Cinderella your laundry. It's dirty sock day!

(The STEPSISTERS dump a pile of dirty socks on CINDERELLA's head and exit. The MICE clench their paws in anger.)

JAQ
Grrr!

LUKE
Mean, mean, mean!!!!

CINDERELLA
Now now, fellas, it's all right. I'm not going to think about dirty socks. I'm going to think about the ball. All the ladies in their fancy dresses, and all the men with their handsome coats and mustaches, and --

(GUS takes a bow, and offers his paw.)

Why sir, are you asking me to dance? How lovely!

(CINDERELLA and the MICE begin to dance around the room, changing partners, as they all sing.)

SIDE 3

JAQ
Poor Cinderelly. Every time she find a minute, that's the time that they begin it. "Cinderelly, Cinderelly."

ANASTASIA, DRIZELLA
(from offstage)
Cinderella!!!!

["The Work Song"]

(CINDERELLA crosses, carrying a mop.)

CINDERELLA
Oh, who am I kidding? I'll never get my chores done in time for the ball. Besides, I don't have a thing to wear ...

(CINDERELLA sighs, picks up her bucket, and exits as the MICE go to the closet and take out an old dress.)

JAQ
Look! Dress for ball!

GUS
It's pretty-pretty, but it's old.

PERLA
We can fix that. Need things! Need things!

(The STEPSISTERS stomp across the stage, flinging accessories on the ground.)

ANASTASIA
Mother, I can't possibly wear this dress, it's awful! This sash is so over!

DRIZELLA
And these pearls, really! All I can say is - I don't think so!

(The STEPSISTERS stomp off as the MICE eye their scattered castoffs.)

JAQ
Lookee, lookee!

PERLA
We can do it.

GUS
It'll be reezy!

SIDE 4

HERALD
Announcing his Imperial Grace, the Grand Duke!

(STEPMOTHER flings open the door and pushes the GRAND DUKE and HERALD inside the house.)

STEPMOTHER
Why welcome, welcome, welcome! I thought you'd never get here. May I present my daughters Drizella and Anastasia ...

(The STEPSISTERS enter, curtseying badly.)

ANASTASIA, DRIZELLA
Your Grace.

(The GRAND DUKE and HERALD wince.)

GRAND DUKE
Yes. Charmed, I'm sure. Now, shall we begin?

(The MICE, who have been hiding, observe the action and talk among themselves.)

JAQ
Quick, get Cinderelly, get Cinderelly!

(PERLA runs off to find CINDERELLA. The HERALD displays the slipper.)

DRIZELLA
Why, that's my slipper!

ANASTASIA
(gasps)
Don't be ridiculous. It's - it - it's my slipper!

(GUS shouts out, as the other MICE pull him back into hiding.)

GUS
No, no, no! Cinderelly's slipper. Cinderel --

SIDE 5

(Off to the side, the MICE hold paws and "wish" really hard. The FAIRY GODMOTHER appears.)

FAIRY GODMOTHER
There, there. Now what's all the fuss about?

PERLA
Cinderelly's in trouble!

JAQ
No hope! No hope!!!

FAIRY GODMOTHER
Don't be silly, my sweet friends.

(The FAIRY GODMOTHER draws the other slipper from her robe.)

There is always hope.

(The FAIRY GODMOTHER taps CINDERELLA on the shoulder and hands her the other slipper, motioning her forward as the GRAND DUKE tries to contain his hysterics.)

GRAND DUKE
AAAAHHHH! Oh, no! Oh, no, no, no. Oh, no. Oh, this is terrible. What am I going to tell the King?

CINDERELLA
Tell him that I have the other slipper.

(CINDERELLA hands the glass slipper to the GRAND DUKE, who slips it onto her foot -- a perfect fit.)

GRAND DUKE, MICE
YEAH!!!!

(STEPMOTHER, realizing the implications of this slipper fitting CINDERELLA, quickly changes her tune.)

STEPMOTHER
But Cinderella, darling ... what about us? Family sticks together after all ...
