Show History

Inspiration

Disco Inferno is inspired by the classic German legend of Faust. In the legend, Faust sells his soul to the devil in exchange for knowledge and talent. In Disco Inferno, Jack Flash sells his soul in exchange for becoming a famous singer. The music of the piece draws from the canon of disco music, popular in the 1970s.

Productions

Disco Inferno was first performed in 1999 by Stage One Theatre Company in England.

Since Disco Inferno was published in 2003 by David Spicer Productions, it has been performed by hundreds of theatre companies and schools in the United States. Internationally, Disco Inferno has been produced in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, UK, China, Norway, Zimbabwe, Jamaica, Germany, Hong Kong and Singapore.
